Advising Appointments
On September 14, 2026, a federal district court judge blocked the Department of Homeland Security’s final rule eliminating Duration of Status (D/S) from taking effect nationwide. The court postponed the rule’s September 15 effective date and prohibited DHS and ICE from taking any further action to implement it while the litigation proceeds. As a result, the longstanding Duration of Status system remains in place nationwide.
